Pierre Rouanet did his phd in human-robot interaction in the Flowers lab at Inria. He spent a few years as a researcher where we participated to numerous robotics project such as the open source Poppy humanoid. He’s now the co-founder and CTO of Pollen Robotics, a 20 person company, that build accessible and open source technologies, especially known for the Reachy robot launched at CES2020. |
In this presentation, we will explain how we design avatar systems and especially our focus on usability and user experience. We will argue that with simple and off-the-shelf components, one could build efficient and versatile systems that can already perform many tasks when remotely controlled. This will be illustrated by describing the design of our XPrize’s avatar.
